Our business (Part 1)

Business is going great as far as customer orders and such, but that means Aaron is getting less sleep, stressing more, and overall cranky!  He is pretty far behind on orders right now.  Some of our clients don't seem to understand we are a FAMILY business.  We work as hard as we can, but sick/fussy kids can make it hard to get things done at times.  Aaron will work at least 10 hours a day/5 days a week, but most of the time he is pulling 12 hours a day and works on Saturdays (usually milling logs) and if he feels really behind after Church on Sundays too!

(Splitting a log that is too big for the mill. Yes we used wedge and sledgehammer)
                                                       (Milling on our Woodmizer)
It takes its toll on us.  It is really hard to have any true family time when he is just so tired and cranky from working so hard.  But he loves his job and I wouldn't want it any other way.
It's not every kid that gets to grow up thinking sawdust is just as fun as a sandbox!

A*** and M*** well checks

Today was A**** 3 year well check and 2 week follow up from her ear infection.  Her ears are fine now so that is good.  She weighs 28 lbs and is 35" tall.  Still my petite little monkey.

It was also M*** 4-5month well check.  He weighs 19.5lbs and is 27.75" long.  They said he would have been over 20 lbs if I would have nursed him before weighing, but I nursed him after.  He had to get 3 shots today, so he wasn't very happy about that.  Though he crashed out in the truck on the way back to the shop and is still sleeping.

A*** kept asking why he needed  a shot.  She was definitely a talker today.  She was just chatting with the nurse about the books and puzzles in the room.  When the Dr. came in she was pretty quite (well she talked just as much, but in a whisper).  She let him do her check up and everything without fighting or complaining a bit!!!  She usually screams at me to hold her and not let him touch her, but today she sat on my lap for part of it and stood in front of me while he listened to her heart.  She didn't even care when he took her BP!  I was shocked at how well she behaved.  She was excited the M*** got an Elmo band-aid and she got 3 stickers AND a sucker!  Though we think she might have left her pretty bracelet there that some friends had made and gave her :(

I think it is rather amusing and crazy that she is currently in the shorts that M***wore to church on Sunday (size 12 months) and the fit perfectly fine!

As many of you know I cloth diaper (CD)  M***.  I also CDed A*** starting at around 4 months.  But I also started ECing (Elimination Communication) her at that time. So she wasn't in CDs for very long.  Shortly after I started ECing her I made her some training panties to wear.  Here is her 4 month picture in her trainers mommy made her.
Here is M*** 3.5 months old (in the same seat) in a Bluerry trainers that I won in a giveaway!  They are great, but a little hard to get on a baby that can't stand up :)

One of the things I can't get over is how addicting CDing can be!  I am a cloth diaper (aka Fluff) addict!!! I love hanging my diapers out to dry.  They just look so pretty!

One of the reasons I do this is because it is better for the diapers to help them last a little longer.  Another reason is because the power of the sun is amazing at getting out yucky poopy stains!  I hate in the winter when I can't hang out the diapers because they all get to looking so gross and unclean (even after washing).

*****WARNING: Nasty poop diaper picture******

It always amazes me that a nasty diaper like this (yes it has been washed) can...

Look like this after a couple hours in the sun!

More Green Beans

So I finally got around to taking some pictures of our wonderful green beans and my little helpers :)
Our garden

Mommy's big helper picking beans.

Helping keep little brother happy while mommy picks beans

Acting like M**** who loves laying on the grass

A beautiful sunset over the garden

Time to snap the beans to get them ready to eat and can.

My 4 month old is so cute when I read 5 Silly Monkeys to him!  His sister tries to help out too.  This was their bedtime story (that I read about 3-4 times that night). Enjoy.

Green Beans!!!

Yesterday A**** helped me pick nearly 12 gallons of green beans.  She also played in the dirt and found "worms" (anything long and skinny).  We still didn't get them all picked!  Sadly I didn't get any pictures yesterday of us picking all those green beans, my main goal was to just get them picked.  I will try and get some pictures today becuase even though we picked so many we didn't get them all picked.

My 2 month old niece is also going to be in her first baby contest!  Good luck Baby Girl!!

Wordless Wednesday

First post...

I am new to this whole blogging idea, but I decided that maybe this way I will be able to make a journal type thing for me to look back on.

My husband and I run a woodworking business with the help of some family and friends.  We mainly make wood kitchenware from locally and sustainably harvest Indiana hardwoods.  We are tyring to be more environmentally conscious.  We know we have been charged to be stewards of the Earth and so we are trying to do what we can to make as little negative impact as possible.  It is nice to be a work at home family, but the pay is not great and the hours are never ending, but when you love what you do it really doesn't seem to matter.  We set up a booth at several art/craft shows and farmer's markets.

We have two wonderful children. Little Missy  is going to be 3 next month, and Bubby is now 4 months old!  I can't believe how fast they grow up.  I cloth diaper Bubby and am learning new things all the time.  I CD Little Missy from about the time she was 3.5months old (that is when she was finally big enough to fit into the size 1 diapers I had been given).  I also heard about and started part-time ECing (elimination communictaion) at that time.  She was completely night time trained before 1 and completely daytime learned shortly after.  So I had a nice break from diapers before my chunky monkey came along this past March.  It's amazing how much has changed in the cloth diaper realm in just a couple of years!  I am also ECing Bubby and all is going well.  We still have several accidents most days, but we are getting there.

I love babywearing!  Amazingly it is just as easy to wear my two kids as it is to just wear my chunky monkey M**** on my front.  Bubby loves his baby k'tan carrier and Little Miss loves to be on mommy's back in our mei tai carrier.
